What does the perfect equipment for your next business trip look like? We present 5 tools from mobile phones to accessories and apps.
1. Robust outdoor mobile phone for on the go
The next Business-Trip is just around the corner and I reach for my cell phone, which for me as a mobile work device is the first Choice is. I've tried a lot over the years: Netbooks, once small and light Alternatives celebrated, are now completely out. Ultrabooks, slimmer and lighter than necessityebooks, but nevertheless equipped with higher performance than tablets, seemed to be the Solution for the mobile Office the Future to be. But for me quite clear the mobile phone, ideally one with a large screen, won the race. The Gigaset X6, for example, has an impressive 6,6-inch diagonal FHD+ punchhole display, reinforced with Gorilla Glass, that achieves a brightness of 550 nits with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. In addition, you can set the font size accordingly, which makes it easier to use without reading glasses, which is very practical if you in between fast want to check on your cellphone.
However, the basic requirement for business use should be the high performance of the device: The Gigaset X6 is equipped with the powerful MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G octa-core processor, which is clocked at 2,4 GHz and ensures smooth operation Performance cares. In addition, it is equipped with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage space, offering enough space for all digital ones needs. That includes photos, so the device's wide-angle 50-megapixel PDAF camera is a real asset. The X6 also features an unprecedented innovation - optical image stabilization for shake-free videos. On the front, the device offers a high-resolution 16-megapixel camera for those who like to take selfies.
The X6 also features a fingerprint sensor conveniently located on the side of the chassis and integrated into the power button, as well as USB 3.0, Wi-Fi 6, NFC and Bluetooth 5.2. In addition, a programmable physical function key has been integrated that allows access to certain Features or applications facilitated. The classic 3,5 mm jack connection is also available, and the device also has two SIM card slots and a dedicated microSD memory card slot, so that I have enough storage space on the go.
Since the X6 is sold as an outdoor phone, it is dustproof as well as waterproof and meets the military standard MIL-STD-810H and IP68 certification. The GX6 is even said to have passed a drop test with a steel plate from a height of 1,2 meters survive, which I have not tried. The scope of delivery also includes a hand strap that can be attached to the corresponding eyelet. The mobile phone's fast charging function is also practical when you're on the move: the Gigaset GX6 is equipped with a powerful charging function of up to 30 watts per cable when it is connected to a compatible charger. With this performance, the user can expect the battery to be 60 percent charged in about 90 minutes. In addition, the device supports wireless fast charging with up to 15 watts and thus corresponds to the Qi standard. On top of that, I can replace the 5000 mAh battery myself, since it is not permanently installed. All of this makes the Gigaset X6 an ideal companion on the go.
2. Bluetooth keyboard turns cellphone into laptop
For me, a cell phone also includes a keyboard that can be connected to a PC, phablet or smartphone via Bluetooth pairing. In fact, I also use my cell phone to work and write when I'm on the go. The keyboard is correspondingly important light and can be used at any time, but is still easy to type with on any occasion - and by that I also mean when there is no table available. Here, too, I made various experiments with cheaper and foldable models: the pressure point was often a little sluggish or they didn't last through continuous use because, for example, the individual keys fell off. Or the folding models were very flexible and folded up quickly, but unfortunately too small to be able to type on them efficiently and too fragile for stable use.
The Hama KEY4ALL X2100 Bluetooth keyboard is now different: The board is extremely stable, the keys are smooth-running and similar in width to a normal PC keyboard - no wonder, given that the dimensions are 28,6 x 12,8 x 1,7 cm. In addition, the keyboard is operated with replaceable batteries, which I personally find more practical than a permanently installed battery. Finally, an off button ensures longevity. The only drawback for me is the weight, there are even lighter models.
There are a number of advantages to this: 14 media buttons, which enable, for example, the search function on the phablet or return to the start screen, facilitate the use of the chronically small screen. The pairing via Bluetooth 3.0 can be set up once and then works automatically when switching on the devices (not a matter of course, many keyboards you have to constantly new pair). Finally, the two tablet stands, which fold out directly at the keyboard, make working without a table extraordinarily practical.
3. Job ticket & travel card app
An app that should not be missing from mobile phones on business travelers is the Germany ticket, optionally also in the job ticket version. Because whether a good specialist is permanently in the Company remains, no longer depends solely on salary and position, but above all on the appreciation by the employer. Good mobility offers are also important here, which enable employees to find their way to their Workplace or make business trips easier, especially if these are also tax-free for employees.
MoPla Solutions, a Startupscompany based in Gersthofen, has developed the mo.pla mobility platform to promote digitization in public transport. The mo.pla Germany job ticket means little administrative effort for companies with maximum transparency and flexibility and this without additional Costs. Employers can see all important data at any time via a dashboard on the mo.pla platform. In this way, you control the ordering, administration and billing of the Deutschlandticket. The clear dashboard complies with data protection law, offers a precise overview of ticket subscriptions and enables simple data downloads for payroll accounting.
Like the digital mo.pla ticket, the job ticket also works via a controllable barcode that is stored in the mo.pla app on the employee's cell phone. Users can flexibly put the job ticket on hold if they don't need it using the "pause" button. A written termination or a new booking of the ticket is not required. This means that administrative work is avoided and the employer's payments are also suspended during the "break period". Employers are given additional flexibility by being able to cancel the subscription up to 24 hours before the end of the month. This is particularly practical if the employee changes companies or no longer wants to use the ticket.
4. Planning a trip also includes the right bag
Choosing the right bag is also part of perfect travel planning: The Ortlieb Twin City Bag has proven to be particularly practical here if you are also traveling by bike or if you rent one at your destination. Because the bag is a 2-in-1 solution, and not just for cyclists, by the way: Depending on which side you turn the folding lid on, you can use it as a shoulder bag or bicycle bag: Thanks to the QL2.1 hook system, it can be used hang directly on the luggage rack. In doing so, the shoulder strap for sure stowed in an extra pocket. After the ride, you turn the cover over to the other side, cover the bike hooks on the outside with it and hang it over your shoulder. In addition, the bag can not only be closed with a practical strap, but also with a zipper. This offers enough storage space to go shopping on the go.
Because the Twin-City Urban is big enough for an organizer in DIN A4 format, wallet, smartphone, notebook, water bottle, etc. - and small enough to carry light luggage through the Everyday life to go. The Cordura fabric with a fabric look is not only waterproof and hard-wearing, but also feels pleasantly soft. The bag is not only extremely practical, but also looks great.
5. Stream sound via Bluetooth speaker
Stereo systems are a thing of the past, not only in the private sphere, because today sound from cell phones or tablets is transmitted to Bluetooth end devices throughout the home. streamed in the office or at events. And: The parts are so small and so good that you can take them with you at any time. The Soundcup-D from Hama, for example, is a waterproof 2-in-1 Bluetooth speaker for listening to music wirelessly with a smartphone, tablet, desktop PC or emergency deviceebook and other Bluetooth-enabled devices with a maximum range of 10 meters.
With dimensions of 8,4 x 8,4 x 21 cm and a weight of 745 g, the speaker fits snugly like a slightly larger coke can Hand. Like many other Bluetooth speakers, it is designed for mobile use and comes with a silicone case with a loop for hanging up the speaker, so you can take the device anywhere: to the office, on the bike, for a picnic in the field – and even for swimming. Because even if the speaker falls into the water, it doesn't sink, but floats on the surface and continues to work thanks to the IPX7 standard (although not so well in the water).
The sound is excellent: full, loud and as an additional gag, two useful at the top and bottom ensure a full bass. The highlight, however, is a unique function: both halves of the Soundcup-D can be separated (and later screwed together again) with a single movement, so that they can also be set up separately in the room. With a music output of 2 X 20 watts (or 2 X 10 watts), a true wireless stereo experience is created, which for me also makes the Soundcup-D the ideal device for enjoying good quality music at home - with a wireless operating time of approx. 6 hours and an average charging time of 3 hours.
The device has two separate Li-Ion batteries with a capacity of 3000 Wh and a cable with two micro-USB connections. For me, this is the only disadvantage of the device: It only contains the USB ports, you won't find any USB C or AUX inputs. I am enthusiastic about the ease of use: Simply switch on, select on the transmitter and the music starts playing. Hama Soundcup inspires with its flexible designs, low price and handling. And the sound quality including excellent bass does not have to shy away from comparison with expensive devices, which is supported by the practical stereo function.
