He drove the brother of Lady Diana, French presidential candidate Ségolène Royal, top model Adriana Karembeu, Celine Dion, David Copperfield - and Madonna at her last concert in Quebec. But actually, Alain Thunier is an import-entrepreneur for table-kickers.
Born in France, he came to Quebec 30 years ago from Rennes in Brittany. Its Canadian Ms. he had met in Brighton, England. "But she didn't tell me anything about the winter here with minus 20 degrees," he says and laughs. There are many such obstacles that prevent us from achieving our dreams. Sometimes we experience failures and setbacks. We get discouraged and give up. Some People verlieren even hope. In such situations, it is important to always hold on to your dreams.
So I liked Alain's motto: “If someone tells you, 'You can do it', believe them. If you believe in yourself and in your dreams, you can achieve impossible things like winning Olympic gold medals. Always believe in your dream and don't give up; only then will your dream become a reality”. And that despite the fact that he also had to accept setbacks and experienced failures that threw him back.
Like the shock when he came to Canada back in February. It was pretty big because of the cold. So he and his wife soon moved to Vancouver in western Canada and also lived for a time in French Guiana on the Amazon. Even today, we often drive in Florida, Cuba or France in winter. "Even though many Europeans are here in February to drive snowmobiles - it's definitely too cold for me here after Christmas," says Alain. So in 1990 the two returned to France for a while and Alain opened a bar. "We had two foosball tables there and I was an avid player," he says.
But France was soon too narrow for him again: "Everything is so hectic there, I got high blood pressure," he reports. In Canada, on the other hand, he appreciates the vastness of the country. And he used his failures as a foundation to learn and work towards his future success. "So when we went back to Quebec, I thought the foosball table could be a good business idea." Today, the trained bookkeeper therefore imports foosball tables that are made in Paris all over Canada and sells them directly Companys and end customers and also in Internet on his website.
Famous people in the area, for A1 Limousine Quebec, on the other hand, he only drives to Fun – he says: “It's just a part-time job that I've been doing off and on for a good 10 years. It's interesting to meet people." But he doesn't collect autographs.
Most of the famous passengers are nice and would talk to him. "Celine Dion invited us to her show in Las Vegas," he says. On the other hand, he doesn't think much of Madonna: "She's not like that lately anyway successfully", he says.
He also drove the French presidential candidate Segulene Royale around for a week: "A very pleasant person," he enthuses. Only one was particularly arrogant: David Copperfield.
"It's much easier to believe in your dream when you're surrounded by people who also believe in your dream," Alain has found over time. That's why it's important to surround yourself with positive people who will remind you of yours all the time Set remember and how much you can achieve. "But don't be discouraged if your dream person isn't right next to you: even if you're far away, you can and must have one positive Have attitude and believe in yourself. Never let your dream die."
But what does he talk about with such prominent people? The famous passengers often wanted to know more about Quebec. “For example why French is spoken here or why the city seems so European,” he reports. Alain then likes to talk about the French past of North America.
From Jaques Quartier, who explored Canada from St. Malo in Brittany from 1524. By Samuel de Champlain, who arrived here from Normandy in 1608 and founded Quebec - and whose statue stands in the market square. Of the more than 200 families from Brittany and Normandy who settled the Ille de Orleans, off Quebec in the St. Lawrence River. And about the fact that people in Quebec put much more effort into preserving the French language and tradition than in France.
Once sat Cirque du SoleilFounders Guy Laliberté in his car and Alain asked him: "How did you become so successful?" Liberte replied that once, when he was still a poor street performer, he slept on the beach in Hawaii. And I dreamed and at the same time his visions clear seen in front of you. “Always believe in your dream, then it will come true,” Liberte Alain said.
“That's what I like about North America,” says Alain: “Americans are still dreaming. In Europe, everyone is depressed.” At the same time, he likes the lifestyle in Quebec: “The people here are very different from those in western Canada. The British lifestyle prevails there. But here people just want to have a good time and take things easy."

Thank you for your great contribution! I've really enjoyed reading it, your writing is just great.
Nicely presented - I will soon familiarize myself a little more with the topic.
