Charles Darwin, the father of evolution theory, gives me an interview. The occasion is an audio book which author Andreas H. Drescher has written and which was published at the end of the Darwin year 2009. Charles Robert Darwin, born 1809 in England, is considered one of the most important natural scientists for his contribution to the theory of evolution. The basis for Darwin's later work was his world tour on HMS Beagle (1831-36), whose travelogue made him known to 1839. Darwin died 1882, but returned in the Darwin Year 2009 as a ghost - among other things to dictate the personalities Andreas H. Drescher his personal experiences on the Beagle. The collaboration with Drescher resulted in an audiobook that also shows the scientist Darwin from his very human side. In the interview he talked about his motives and the cooperation

Mr. Darwin, how do you come to head into the head of Andreas H. Drescher?

I looked at the reports and documentation for Darwin Year 2009 and never felt completely understood. I'm thinking of one in particular Article on Spiegel-Online – Since I have to read that straight Boy People are skeptical about the theory of evolution: For example, every eighth student teacher doubts evolution, including even future biology teachers. So I had to do something!

So I decided to speak for myself and to report something personal about myself. I think that just being able to emotionally engage with a scientist can make a young person accept the most important of this scientist:

Why just Drescher?

Because I had already heard a lot of good things about Drescher: He crosses the line between literature, radio plays and new music and regularly publishes poetry and prose, including as part of the Writers' Association's "Topicana" series. For the poetic animation of his volume "Fremde Tongues" he was awarded the "Literatur Digital” competition by dtv/Hanser was awarded first prize. And with his performance “Konjunktivien” he was a guest at the “International Poetry Festival” in Berlin together with the Australian dancer Jenny Atwood. Above all, however, Drescher has already established himself as an artificial spirit through the development of the wind spirit MALDIX Intelligence shown open to suggestions from the spirit world. Ultimately, that's why I chose him.

And how exactly did you proceed?

I read the publisher Mona Lenz from the Berlin Bellerive-Verlag on Drescher's series "Knicklichter" I aufmerksam where, in the literature forum Der Goldene Fisch, he looks at the “lights” in history, politics and science precisely where they no longer light up, but turn into phosphorescence. She – and I in her – wanted to see Drescher do something like that for me as well.

How did the cooperation develop?

Actually quite good. On occasion, Drescher was a bit stubborn and wanted to invent something of his own, but basically he adhered to my requirements.

So the whole story was inspired by you?

Yes, within three weeks I dictated my thoughts to Drescher, which I had during a very severe storm on the Beagle. At this point I was very weak from my months of seasickness and the Konflikt with Captain Fitzroy on slavery, which he advocated. And then the storm: you think all sorts of things. Yes absolutely. Based on Drescher's text, Mona Lenz rendered my inner life very well in text and music. The two speakers (Thomas Arnold and Sonja Deutsch) also did a great job. Personally, I believe that the listeners sometimes feel as if they had been on the Beagle, maybe even mine Head. And of course I hope that the many thoughts and associations will keep the listeners busy afterwards. But of course they have to do it themselves decide.
