Almost all job sites recorded a significant increase in job search in January. Indeed's German side is no exception, but job seekers in other countries were even more active. The particularly popular occupations of the past year paint a colorful picture of the German labor market - and show the trends for 2017.

Popular for job seekers: translators, engineers, nursing

Earlier this year, we looked at Indeed data to see which occupations were the most popular among job seekers over the past year. By far the fastest growing interest was in jobs as a translator for English. No other company has recorded such a rapid increase Job in any other country that Indeed considered for the analysis.

This was followed by searches for engineering positions, jobs in nursing and for the trending professions of data scientist and UX designer. The increase in interest from job seekers in all of these professions is good news for employers. In all of these trend jobs there is currently one klare Gap between supply and demand. If job seekers show more interest in the professions, this gap can be closed in the future. However, it is also important: Those who are sought after on the job market usually know this and often go looking for something they do not like. Recruiting skilled workers is therefore just as important as talent management in order to attract qualified ones Employees to commit long-term.

  1. Translator English + 899,8%
  2. Engineering + 270,7%
  3. Nurse / nurse + 102,1%
  4. Data Scientist + 78,5%
  5. UX-Designer + 76,9%

Interesting is that the two top job searches come from Germany, but are in English language. This speaks for an increasingly international labor market. In addition, these figures should also reflect the increasing linguistic diversification of refugees in Germany. While many still have to learn German, they often speak English as a foreign language.

60 percent more job searches in January

At the turn of the year, job searches traditionally rise sharply. In Germany, this increase was just under 2017 percent at the beginning of 60. Compared to their European neighbors, Germans are not looking for a new job quite as intensively in January. The highest increases were recorded in France and Ireland in January 2017.
