Inefficient work annoys!

For researching my book “I hate teams! So I wanted to know more precisely how you survive the week with colleagues ”, which I wrote together with Thorsten Visbal: We interviewed 104 people from different hierarchy levels and professions and found out:

In practice, the success of collaboration through egoism, power needs and under-taking of responsibility by individual team members is disrupted. Around half of the people surveyed work more efficiently on their own than in the past Team.

The average value on a scale from 1 (lone fighter) to 10 (team lover) was 5,4, with employees without personnel responsibility rating teamwork the most positively at 5,8. self-employed and Executives were less team affine with 5,3 and 5,1. The non-managerial non-executive group likes working with colleagues but is nonetheless bothered by the side effects.

36% of all respondents are annoyed by inefficient work. As negative Team experiences became inefficient Implementation (23%) and bad Communication named (16%). unproductive Meetings are another team obstacle with 7%.

Single fighter mentality

The result shows that teamwork often does not work in practice. This is due to the conviction in Germany that teamworkers are being sought in the job vacancies, but in reality individualists have made a career. This is even more pronounced in Germany than in other countries.

The reason for this lies in the fact that it is still above all the Performance of the individual would be evaluated, not that of the team. Above all, there needs to be a change in people's minds.
