Often we take ourselves Set and resolutions before and feel us as failures because we don't reach them but give in to our impulses. Perhaps the goals are simply not attractive enough? It's better this way.
Short question: What is left of the plans and intentions that you have set for this year? Or have you long suppressed and forgotten them?
It might sound like a truism, but the fact is, most do People For example, at the beginning of the year, you set yourself goals like “more sport” or “more Money”. At the end of the year you ask yourself: Which of the resolutions we have already made have we implemented? Or, one size smaller: Which goals have you already tackled?
If the balance sheet turns out to be rather sobering, it could be at the wrong place Strategy lay. And the fact that we make resolutions with dust-dry fulfillment of duty rather than with Fun and combine joy. Or to put it another way: New Year's resolutions are simply unsexy. That's why we usually don't go through with it. No matter how reasonable it may seem for our work or life. At least at first glance.
Because in the end, people do what gives them the most fun and joy. Or to put it scientifically: you go where the dopamine is released. Therefore, the best tip for achieving goals is to make the goal itself seem more attractive: for example, by taking small steps towards the goal. Because a lofty, abstract goal is deterrent and therefore unsexy. And another important point: For example, by visualizing goals with music or photos and presenting them pictorially Eyes .
In addition, the way we are taught to make decisions is very different from how we actually do it decide. Because as a rule, when we make decisions, they should be backed up with facts and figures.
Because our wishful thinking is that we separate facts and opinions from each other and evaluate them differently. In reality, however, things are different: ours emotions on certain topics are important and should not be simply ignored. And it's not always easy to find facts, especially when it comes to something completely new.
But the main reason is that all our perceptions, i.e. everything we see and hear, first have to penetrate our so-called reptilian brain before they reach the neocortex, where our logic and higher Intelligence sits and data and facts can be perceived in the first place.
The Problem The sad thing about the reptilian brain is that it's the oldest part of our brain and is particularly bad at dealing with complicated issues. Our reptilian brain doesn't want data and facts because it immediately generalizes them while skipping all the details. For information to permeate the reptilian brain, it must be new, exciting, and simple, and thus appeal to us emotionally.
Even like that useful be because our Brain otherwise simply collapse due to overload. But the problem is: Facts and figures are boring and complicated in most cases. In this case, the reptilian brain simply does not let them through. Thus, the facts do not arrive in the neocortex and are therefore not processed.
We then simply bury a goal or intention and turn ours awareness other things too, since our reptilian brain does the Information simply does not forward. Unfortunately, it is all too often true that people tend to be controlled by short-term impulses. But what can you really do about it?
Perhaps one way is to get more inspiration. And inspiration can look very different, like Brian Tracy's book “No excuses! The power of self-discipline ”explains:“ Name three people, living or deceased, whom you admire the most and describe one of their characteristics before you Respect to have."
This could provide important clues to your own wishes, which might otherwise remain hidden. And another question that, according to Tracy, should be asked: “What one, really big goal would you set yourself if you knew you couldn't fail?”
Even if I don't unconditionally "Positive-thinking-power-successfully"- rhetoric believe and this usually does not work, I have often found that this is how you get on the track of the really big wishes in life. Things that we find really attractive and sexy and for which it is worth overcoming oneself instead of narrow-gauge goals like “losing 10 pounds”. And maybe the 10 kilo weight loss is just a good intermediate step on the way?
After all, you should also shed light on your resolutions: some of the things you have set out to do may seem sensible, but may not suit us at all - right? And with such false goals - in spite of all resolution programs - it is whole clearthat one at the Implementation fails.
