Why we like people
Why do we like People and others not? In the immediate environment, this can be explained by many things.
Above all, the sexual scent that is not consciously perceptible plays a role, touches, Esteem, being respected and noticed and much more. But with a politician that many never see (or smell) in person?
58% want Guttenberg back in politics
The books on the subject (advertising)
For his part, Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg made many mistakes. Mistakes, some of which could have legal consequences, and perhaps also political mistakes, at least as some see it. Nevertheless, now this survey result from TNS Emnid, published in Focus:
58 percent want KT back in politics after a break. That's more than CDU and even CSU votes. The results by party are astonishing: 82 percent of the Union is understandable. In the “CSU opponent” FDP it is even 92 percent, 10 percent more! And even with the SPD and the left, the majority of 55 and 52 percent.
Even with the Greens it is still still 40 percent. The results were even better immediately after the resignation, even the Green Voters were at incredible 78 percent. The question is why. The answer is simple.
What does the ordinary voter get from a politician? Photos, short film recordings in news programs, occasionally a talk show appearance. And of course the opinions of journalists and "normal" people.
It depends on the perception of the pictures
Discounts for your success (advertising)!
In my opinion, the most important thing is the perception of the images, films or photos. And that's where Guttenberg scores like no other. His posture is perfect, his voice pleasant, he speaks eloquently and flawlessly, smiles, is always confident and humorous, perfectly dressed... In short: there is nothing he does wrong (except maybe that in certain situations his left Hand into your pocket).
Here's an older video on the Kunduz Affair: It's a tough fight, and yet the Secretary of Defense retains the form, remains polite but determined, and pleasing in his body language.
Guttenberg vs. Westerwelle: A comparison!
For comparison, Guido Westerwelle, who has resigned from some offices. Almost everyone followed him. It seems as if all journalists and the majority of the population have conspired against him and almost found him the enemy of the nation. He got almost everything wrong.
Not politically, every politician has supporters and opponents of his content (but very few deal with this content exactly). No, it was his body language and way of speaking: he roared, twisting his face into an unfriendly grimace, slapped his hand almost on the heads of the audience, made negative Gestures and often showed us the evil head teacher's finger.
Haemic instead of friendly
Even when he smiled, it sometimes seemed malicious instead of friendly, because his mouth stays shut and widens, the corners of his mouth don't turn up. The result: he seems unsympathetic.
Emphasis on effect, because anyone who knows media people privately knows that the media image and reality often diverge. Since I only met Westerwelle briefly once, but didn't speak to him, I don't want to judge whether it was him or not.
Westerwelle lets BBC reporter flash
Here is the moment when Westerwelle is asked in English. The British reporter is speaking, by the way German, he was just being stubborn or wanted the question in English for his inclusion.
Goodbye Guido Westerwelle
Even in passages in which he says positive things, talks about himself and his term in office or wishes his successor all the best, the ex-foreign minister used a rather aggressive body language and voice.
So the one, KT, works sympathisch, the other, Guido, seems unsympathetic – and everyone joins in. The media (even serious news!), the regulars' tables, the people all over Germany, whether from your own party or the opposing party.
The consequences have then turned out accordingly: The unfriendly is made a huge number out of it when he (politically correct) and politely ask a British journalist to ask his question in German, he is pushed out of offices and finally dismantled by his own party.
Large or even minor errors, from all will be a reason to get rid of him. On the other hand, mistakes are made to the sympathetic, which are clearly contrary to the law. His medial dealing with the affair around his doctortitel was Obendrein anything but professional, etc. Nevertheless many want him again and show so that they forgive him and keep the fidelity.
With two dimensions
Incidentally, I think that both politicians have done a lot of good and also made a few mistakes. What bothers me, however, is that there are double standards here. Although: it shows once again how important it is to do it right act. It's not the content that counts, it's the man and his Effect: rhetoric from choice of words to body language to voice and clothing.
It decides your career. And that doesn't just apply to politicians. This doesn’t just apply to the topExecutives. Have you ever thought about whether you are more like Guttenberg or Westerwelle? Do you have light support or do you have to keep exerting yourself to get your Set to reach?
