Job search & career topics - home office, business start-up & privacy

In a contribution on THE EUROPEAN Gunnar Sohn has my interview with the Bozener Professor Dr. Christian Lechner linked. And another very exciting aspect brought into play: namely, that founders want to play the entrepreneur too soon.

80 percent of start-ups fail at StartUp-Gichtlingen

It's interesting what business start-ups fail to do. Namely often on their own ego and the fact that they want to train too early management structures.

In my opinion, this often arises from a need for control and a personal ego problem. In his post on The European, Sohn writes:

Around 80 percent of start-ups fail because the loveliest start-up gimmicks want to play too much the classic entrepreneur, as Günter Faltin, Professor for Entrepreneurship, impressively demonstrated during his presentation at Interactive Cologne.

Agile and flexible despite growth

On the topic of how to grow as a startup and yet still agile and flexible, I had so recently in t3n in detail. In it I wrote:
Autocratic decision-making structures tend to be an exception rather than an exception, even in start-ups, even though they tend to propagate missing hierarchies.

Quite a few managers, however, do not want to give up any information or even responsibility at all. In startups in particular, the young bosses often face the uncertain situation with a mania for control. If the company then grows, all decisions are backed up by the overburdened boss and thus inhibit the entire company.

Are real entrepreneurs artists?

In addition, as son writes in his post, the brain is mistowed by venture capital for many of the founders. Founders should not be managers at the same time, but should also be chaotic.

Is a real entrepreneur closer to an artist than a manager who only manages processes? Time an exciting point of view.

Handelsblatt quotes me: The new Samwer platform

In a recent article about the provider Zencap, a new project of the Samwer brothers, the Handelsblatt has quoted me on the subject Businessplan.

Best of HR – Berufebilder.de®

New online service with the Samwer brothers as investors

The article, which appeared on the 22.05.2014, discusses the online provider Zencap, which provides loans to companies - of course, after a credit check. A banking license is not necessary, to the chagrin of the banks.

The founders of the new service are the two former McKinsey consultants Christian Grobe and Matthias Knecht. Behind the platform are the Samwer brothers, Germany's best-known Internet investors.

How to build successfully?

In the article, the Handelsblatt makes a turn to the topic of starting a business and gives tips for the right business plan. You quote tips from an older article on the subject of “What is important for a business plan.” For example this tip:
One of the most common mistakes is that the founder goes too far from himself and loses sight of customers and donors in his zeal. Therefore, change the perspective again and again and make the business plan from the point of view of the customers or investors.

10 steps to successful foundation

These come from my book "10 Steps to Successful Start-ups“, Which I published in the Redline Wirtschaft publishing house.

SWR3 interviews me on the subject of home office: In the footsteps of Marissa Mayer

The topic of home office is currently a concern of many and is also being discussed vigorously in the media. The trigger was the discussion we helped initiate about Yahoo boss Marissa Mayer. The SWR has now interviewed me on the subject.

Yahoo boss Marissa Mayer has banned it, other companies like Coca Cola have just given their employees time off where they want to work this year: I'm talking about the home office, the advantages and disadvantages of which I recently wrote in my column DIE WELT .

The SWR has now done a whole series on the topic. In the SWR3 show bisZwölf I was interviewed by presenter Nicola Münterfering on the hotly controversial topic of home office. The interview is in the video above.

Profession pictures is currently recommended on t3n: Recruiting for start-ups

Our author Jan Thomas Otte recently wrote about new recruiting channels and employee searches in start-ups in t3n - and also linked an article in our blog.

Start-ups have to come up with something for recruiting

One thing is clear: Start-ups have fewer financial resources than large, established companies. Nevertheless, of course, they are also looking for good, committed employees.

Since the payment is inevitably often lower than in large companies, start-ups, according to Otte in his article, must score with other advantages: For example, they offer open structures that appeal to doer types.

Disadvantages of job exchanges

Start-ups also have to break new ground when it comes to recruiting methods: job advertisements often offer too many disadvantages, as our contribution by t3n on the subject of “expectations of job advertisements” shows.

Because they are perceived by applicants as too little authentic and meaningful - and due to the AGG is a more precise formulation also often not possible.

New ways of recruiting

Therefore, as Otte also concludes, other ways must be found to make the interview possible in the start-up's living room. And in his article he cites numerous examples from social media to alumni and associations to workshops and associations. Real social recruiting.

You can also find the entire contribution by Jan Thoma Otte in the t3n here.

Interview with me for the magazine “Maxi”: “Hooray, we are Frollege

For an article in the women's magazine “Maxi” I was recently interviewed on an important topic I was looking at Best of HR – Berufebilder.de® always picking up again: the increasing mixture of private and professional concerns in the workplace.

maxi cover 1

Now my colleague Corinna Siepenkort has broken the subject on the friendships between Kolllegen, but the topic is one that is also important in society.

A brandaktulle and very controversial topic, for which I have been interviewed for this issue of Maxi magazine. Unfortunately the interview is not online.

Last week, Marissa Mayer published a memo requesting her staff to return from the home office to the office.

Video Note: If you don't see a video here, you have to activate the option “Watch videos” at the end of the page under “Privacy and Cookies”!

From the blog to the mass media

I already wrote a contribution on Sunday about the 7 reasons for and against Marissa Mayer's theses. So far, only a few US bloggers (e.g. in the Huffington Post) excited about it, but I already realized that the topic was inflammation.

Tuesday 7 1 appeared part of my post at imgriff, Thursday morning at 6.30 clock part 2. Since the middle of the week suddenly the topic also hits in various big media - Süddeutsche, World etc. - waves.

Relevance of blogs

Just appeared on Thursday Spiegel Online this post by economic resort manager Thomas Tumawho obviously also received my theses - the careerspiegel follow me on twitter too.

Should someone again say that topics on blogs are not relevant and not received! We are so excited about this.

Tina Groll has me recently for ZEIT ONLINE on the subject of interview talks. How do I prepare myself? What is it about? And what role does social media play?

Do not be a petitioner!

What I particularly like about the title and, of course, the text, too, is that my philosophy and my experience are not to be beggars, but as someone who has something to offer.

After all, you usually have a qualified education behind you and maybe even some work experience - make sure of that!

Show courage and personality

Another aspect that is emphasized: That one should also stand by oneself and possible weaknesses - because what one keeps silent comes out after all anyway and then all are dissatisfied.

In this sense: Just be yourself or yourself. Do not lie. And show courage and personality!

Interview with me at rbb: Thema Neu im Job

The ARB, which belongs to the ARD, more precisely radioBerlin 88,8, did an interview with me at the beginning of March on the topic “New in the job”.

Best of HR – Berufebilder.de®

The show was about how to survive the first few days in a new job - so you can not get out faster than you can watch.

The program was broadcast as part of the daily service program “The Expert Team” on March 07.03.2011th, XNUMX.

Unfortunately, for legal reasons, I am not allowed to place the MP3 online. After all, there is an online page with my most important tips that Doris Anselm has put together.

Friendship with colleagues in the office: The boundaries between work and private life

The boundaries between professional and private aspects are becoming increasingly blurred. What does it look like when colleagues become friends?

Best of HR – Berufebilder.de®

Interview in Deutsche Welle: Conflicts preprogrammed - when professional issues become too private

Olga Sosnytska from the Russian editor of Deutsche Welle did an interview with me some time ago on “Friendships in the office”.

In it I told you how to get along well with people and to what extent professional and private matters should mix in everyday working life.
Olga Sosnytska also wrote an online article on this, which was published here.

What makes me happy: Robindro Ullah from Deutsche Bahn is also quoted in the article, who says, in essence, that it is becoming increasingly difficult to separate private and professional matters. He has already said that in German elsewhere, namely in an interview with me.

Interview on ZEIT ONLINE: Friend or colleague? When the lines blur

My colleague Tina Groll has for ZEIT ONLINE did an interview with me on the subject of “friendship in the workplace”. In times when the boundaries between work and private life are becoming more and more blurred, this friendship-colleague thing is an extremely important topic.

And at the latest when colleagues who are friends are promoted, dismissed or transferred, private conflicts are often inevitable - with quite negative effects on the job. You can read the entire interview here: http://www.zeit.de/karriere/beruf/2010-07/freundschaft-kollegen-buero

Interview in the Generalanzeiger: Spending free time with friends and colleagues

An equally exciting topic are leisure activities that can be carried out with colleagues, for example. This is true even if you don't have that much money. Julia Hornstein published an article in March 2006 in the Bonner Generalanzeiger on the subject of “Leisure doesn't have to be expensive”. Title: Walking with friends.

It was about various suggestions for inexpensive leisure activities with friends and acquaintances.

My essay at changeX in three parts + audio: Founders have to be crazy!

Fits my replica on one ZEIT ONLINE-Article from Monday my essey “Founders have to spin” is now published by changeX in three parts with an audio file.

Best of HR – Berufebilder.de®

How do start-up ideas come about?

This is how good start-up ideas are created at all - mostly from a crazy, creative whimsy. Unfortunately, these are just the ideas that smiled at the beginning of each and the correspondingly little support - even no financial.

Because founders have to spin - if they do the whole foundation stress, instead of working towards a secure direction - that is the reading that you like in this country too happy:

Founders are spinners

The founders are spinners, who enter into an uncertain future. But a shoe is reversed: founders have to spin. Because spiders must be in order to come up with innovative business ideas. And to lead them to success. Like the Eispirat Alexander Käppler.

My essay in full, with free access exclusively for my readers, can be found at changeX! (usually the subscription is charged!).

Of course there is the text as audio and iPhone app - then unfortunately no longer freely available.

My 30 chances for start-ups at Yahoo & in the literature blog

On April 27, 2010 the Yahoo editorial team presented ten professions with a future - certainly also inspired by the success of my title “30 opportunities for start-ups”, because they sound very similar. The literature blog correctly linked the Yahoo tips and related them to my book. Thank you very much.

What is it about?

It involves finding information, own strategy, cultivating networks, reputation management - and, of course, how to find suitable vacancies in the Web 2.0.

Clear compilation

Overall, a nice, clear compilation. What irrigates me again: The article will appear tomorrow, on 01.05.2010, also print - but the question is:

Why does it appear online for free the day before? From a publishing point of view, that doesn't make sense - but the ladies and gentlemen will already know what they're doing ...

ZEIT ONLINE TALK with me to search for a job on the web 2.0 on Germany Radio Wissen: What do HR specialists really look for?

Reviews in the press: job search & career topics - home office, business start-ups & privacy

Because: Browsing through a job section of the newspaper is one way of finding a new job. Surfing the employment agency's database is another. More and more companies are using various tools on the Internet to find new employees and to point out vacancies.
