Many People have Problems, relationships and a (dream) job under one roof. Because the balancing act between self-realization and privacy is not easy. And does it even have to be?
For a few months now I have been dealing with the question of who she is, this generation I belong to. Melancholyers say I'm in the middle of the quarterlife crisis and looking for that Sinn – so close to her 30th birthday for sure not abnormal.
That would be too short for me. In fact, others concern me Ask: Who are we, where are we going and why do we seem to have reinvented life. Three questions, countless answers and here is my attempt at an interim conclusion.
I am currently catching a cold. Just means the fourth day in a row. I think I have a fever, cut my life and cough as I work as if I were a chain-smoking. I am doing all the important things of my profession. I understand myself not only as a service provider.
I live it. Many people around me do not understand why I work while I'm sick. One answer is: I love the work I do. Another is: I am self-employed. The truth is somewhere in between, allowing a glimpse of my generation.
On the other hand, Michael Nast wrote for the online magazine about the generation unable to relate. One of the posts that gave me goosebumps because it outlines the ifs and buts between which we are caught. One of the paragraphs in my Head remained was this:
Our parents' generation had one Job AND a life. There was a breakup. After work, they maintained their personal lives. Today that is merged. A job nowadays is more than just a job, a profession has the claim of a vocation.
Actually a factual statement that good life between permanent accessibility, social networks and personal commitments in a framework that fits. This framework defines more: it is about what a generation expects of itself.
Nast attaches great importance to linking the professional challenge and one's own relationship status. He gives various examples of why people are single. In fact, it fits what he describes himself: It's complicated - in every respect. We are not easy. We push ourselves too. We want partners who complement us and that Internet suggests that we can find them at the touch of a button.
The same applies vice versa to our professional ones Future: All we have to do is look hard enough and we'll find a better, fulfilling and well-paid job. We don't see the number of people who break their own claims along the way, nor the claims that we put on our shoulders as a burden. She pushes and when she pinches, she seems to be right.
Conversely, this variety of possibilities, which presents us with problems, also means that we have to direct our focus. The day comes when you decide must: healthy or sick? Get up for your colleagues or lie down for your body? For life or with whining?
These aspects lead me to make three statements about my generation:
Any statement about who my generation is and what it is can only explain a certain part. Our unity is called diversity.
Anyone looking for the ideal job misses the opportunity to take a good job. One could also speak with Maxim and say:
And happiness is in front of you on the street. And sticks his thumb out, But everything goes like this fastthat you only notice it when you look in the backspiegel look. And then it is long too late to stop, then you have to go straight on, until happiness rushes past you again, because you are constantly in the backspiegel look. (c) Maxim - backspiegel
At a certain point, self-realization means not just tackling things. It's also about the future. This requires a direction (not a plan!). It is important to develop this, whereby life with its felt vocation and direction together Hand go hand in hand.
Anyone trying to understand us should keep one thing in mind: being single for self-realization is one for a limited period of time decision, which opens up possibilities. Living together that neither meets one's own expectations nor fits into life and one's own direction seems to be more harmful.
Life and work may not be separated anymore. This also means agreeing with work and vocation partnerships - and those who can no longer, must follow the examples in the text of Nast and separate.
For me, I can now move on to the next one without a bad conscience Meeting and to all those who do not understand this, I may call out the questions of what they believe and what they live for. If you still have the separation between work and private life, let them enjoy it.
I for my part just want to do without a little in my life. Where: The next cold would like to wait until 2016 on me.
