We all know that long sitting unhealthy. As a result, flexible office solutions have recently been devised. This also includes office chairs, which adapt flexibly to the movement. I have tested three different models.
The Companys Haider Bioswing from Pullenreuth (Upper Palatinate) has made a name for itself as a manufacturer of health care and therapy systems. As the name implies, all office chairs are equipped with a mobile, company-patented 3D® seat system that flexes with every movement. I tested three different models.
The back and armrests can of course be adjusted in height on all models, the seat height and depth as well as the seat inclination can be adjusted to support the tilt of the pool. This is to be used for the erection of the spine in its natural double S-shape. All chairs are covered with coarser or finer microfiber material, the resistance of which must only prove itself in the course of time.
My first impression of the 450 iQ S is positive: I have never sat on such a comfortable chair. Ideal: You can fix the backrest at the desired angle or adjust so that it adapts to the body when leaning forward or backward - this function has called the manufacturer TrainBackMatic.
Yes, the chair even responds to the leaning pressure and automatically synchronizes seat and backrest, whether you are sitting or bending back. In addition, the backrest backrest pressure can be individually fixed. Thus, straight or comfortable sitting is possible in all variations.
A lumbar support in the back upholstery is designed to relieve the lumbar spine by continuously adjusting the curvature, and you actually notice it change but hardly. The round neck support, which can be folded further forwards and upwards but not backwards, I find even a little annoying, but you can also remove it completely.
However, the most outstanding feature of the chair is and remains the flexibility of the seat: The leads after prolonged sitting on smooth soreness, especially in the abdominal area. However, this luxury seat has a hefty price of 1560 Euro.
A flexible seat is also an outstanding feature of the V260 iQ V, which at 800 euros is only half the price of the 450 iQ S. The price is also reflected in the seating comfort clear noticeable. Overall, the inexpensive chair has significantly fewer adjustment options, but that doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing:
The backrest adjustment called VarioBackMatic also responds to the leaning pressure and adapts to any sitting posture, but less easily than the 450 iQ S.
When you sit straight, you almost get the impression that the backrest pushes you forward, for the lean back you have to spend more power than the 450 iQ S, which also trains the abdominal muscles.
The depth adjustment of the seat surface can provide relief here, but this is a lot softer than with the 450 iQ S, which ensures easy sinking.
Unfortunately, the lumbar shaping in the back pad to relieve the lumbar spine is only optional for an additional charge and not available for my test chair, although it would be particularly helpful because of the special backrest mechanism. There is also a quality difference in the rolls, which are made of plastic, in the other two models, the middle part is chrome.
An extravagentes model is the boogie saddle, which is priced at just 1032 Euro in the lower midfield in the three comparison models. Noticeable is the leather-like microfiber material that the chair is upholstered with, giving the chair a stylish look - as well as the saddle-shaped seat with the T-shaped backrest.
Overall, this chair has significantly less adjustment possibilities: the backrest can only be adjusted upwards or downwards, armrests are not available, instead the elbows can be placed on the backrest.
Instead of an adjustable seat, the chair automatically reacts to the center of gravity of the body from the front to the rear, thus permitting a permanent and body-synchronized adjustment of the seat and backrest inclination.
The most outstanding thing about this chair is the ergonomic, saddle-shaped seat, in which the legs are not "laid down" as usual in the front, but on the left and right. This automatically leads to a physiologically correct sitting position: the pelvis leans forward and the spine can straighten up in its natural double S shape. This is to prevent one-sided pressure loads on the intervertebral discs. The short but pleasant backrest ensures comfort.
All in all, a very back-friendly and quite comfortable sitting position, which unfortunately gets in the way of the human factor. After a short time, I no longer have the opportunity to lean back comfortably on the chair, as is possible with the other models. Instead, I'm just clinging to big Stress with your feet in the turnstile from behind – again not healthy. It may be that the Boogie saddle is the most innovative of the three test chairs - maybe it's just too innovative for me.
The human factor is also the basic problem with all three chairs tested: upright, back-sitting is not very comfortable in the long run, it has to be trained. Otherwise you could spend a whole day sitting on a seatball.
At the same time, all three chairs solve the fundamental problem Problem Not that sitting for long periods is unhealthy - even on Bioswings you get back pain over time. Nevertheless, I find all three models better and healthier than previous seating I have used. Nevertheless, it is also important to get up from time to time, to do gymnastic exercises and to move.
