In the South little new

The conference was organized by Young IT Professionals (YITP) in Heidelberg. And all in all, there were hardly any completely new, groundbreaking theses - at least from the Perspektive by someone who has been dealing with the subject for years. The many different nuances were much more interesting.

For example, our panel discussion on “IT skills shortages and demographic change in Germany, securing skilled workers through immigration and qualification.”

The rolls were clearly distributed

The picture above shows, from left, Klaus Behrla, Vice-President of Business Development Europe Linux, Professional Institute (LPI), the graduate mathematician Ulrich Engelhardt, the supervisory board of SHE information technology in Ludwigshafen and Caner Aver from the Center for Turkish Studies and Integration Research (ZfTI) in Essen.

Immigration and wage dumping

Nevertheless, I found it exciting that the previous discussion was expanded to include an aspect that was new to me, the topic of immigration and the recruitment of skilled workers abroad. Critical aspects such as wage dumping by foreign skilled workers or the Problem of immigration for our social system.

In the lectures and during the interviews during the breaks a very broad and differentiated picture of the subject was drawn.

Further education and better working conditions

In this context, Reinhard Schuhmann, Chairman of the Advisory Board of EMPIRIUS GmbH, reported on his cooperation with YITP and Frank Kaiser, Deputy Managing Director of the Turkish Chamber of Commerce, showed the opportunities of this “emerging market”.
