Health-conscious enjoyment

The hotel features an indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room and eight massage and treatment rooms. Here guests can enjoy draining and stimulating treatments with fango, "baths" in organic alpine hay, individual massages and Kneipp baths as well as whirlpool baths with effective essences from the hotel's own beauty line.

The health-conscious standard starts here with breakfast, but of course there is no shortage of indulgence either: in the vaulted restaurant, you are invited to the table in an extraordinarily stylish setting. 2. Wellness in the radon mine: In the footsteps of Friedrich Lichtenstein in Gastein

In the footsteps of Mr. Supergeil Friedrich Lichtenstein (the type from the Edeka advertising), I have looked at the Gastein Valley - including treatment in Radon-Heilstollen- and exciting found. For stressed-out professionals and smaller meeting groups with an original supporting program definitely worth the trip.

Pittoresque walks

Picturesque, but a little narrow, the Gastein valley with the three villages Dorf Gastein, Bad Hofgastein and Bad Gastein meanders along the Acher river ... The last snow is still on the mountains in March, while the spring green is not quite down in the valley has arrived. A great picture that offers you in diffuse sunlight when hiking on the 5 KM long Gasteiner Höhenweg - by the way, the only hiking path with toilet houses I know of so far

The Gasteiner valley is also good for some surprises: the place was already known in the 19 as early as in the Middle Ages for its medicinal springs. Century as a fashionable spa resort World famous, especially by guests such as Emperor Franz Josef I and Empress Elisabeth, Prince Bismarck, Grillparzer, Schubert, or Schopenhauer.

Friedrich Lichtenstein finds space for new ideas

Several stately hotels originate from this glorious time of the Belle Epoque, giving Bad Gastein its mundane and morbid flair, and the most impressive examples of which, such as the Badeschloss or the Grand Hotel de l'Europe, are grouped around the waterfall. It is this combination of rugged, alpine nature and urban architecture that makes Bad Gastein unique worldwide. It is all the more sad that a large part of the building is now empty because the Duval family in Vienna, who acquired five buildings in the 90s, neither sell still - as originally promised - wants to renovate.

Paradoxically, it is precisely this situation that should make the place a magnet for artists and intellectuals from the big cities. The most prominent of you is undoubtedly Friedrich Lichtenstein from Berlin, who has become known for his super horny appearance in an Edeka advertising mockery and who is an avowed Gastein fan - so much that he named an entire concept album after the place and is quoted in interviews with the statement: "Where buildings are empty, there is a lot of space for new ideas."

Hofgastein or Bad Gastein?

Best of HR –®

I personally found the atmosphere in Bad Gastein itself, which is also called Monaco of the alps, a little sad and me is also this hipster hype a little suspect. I would rather prefer the Hofgastein, which is located next door, that in its simplicity offers the relaxed charm of a holiday resort and also offer excellent hotels:

For example, the Hotel Bismarck, which despite its three houses only offers space for 132 guests, has fascinated me. It moves almost to five-star level, with elegant design and beautifully appointed rooms and suites at a good price-performance ratio (from 100 Euro including half board) and is also suitable for smaller groups - the library with screen leaves also use as a meeting room. It also offers its guests four thermal pools and various saunas.

At the Impulshotel Tirol, on the other hand, 70 rooms for up to 130 guests, from 117 Euro per person and half board, guests can realize themselves in their own studio or book an art workshop - as a complementary program for skiing or to the hotel's wellness area, next to a thermal bath and Saunas also offers unique uses, such as a radon bath. Art, you notice, is the great passion of hotelier Christoph Weiermayer, the Impuls Hotel Tirol with its sculptures and large-format paintings has given a distinctive touch.

Mine with healing effects

At all, radon is the real key feature of the resort: in the former 2,5 KM long mining gallery where attempts were made to break down gold in the 40 years, mild overheating (37 to 43 degrees Celsius), high and even tropical air humidity a natural, high radon content of the air for healing and relaxing effects.

Radon releases inflammatory agents in the body that stimulate the body's own cell repair mechanism and reduce the activity of inflammatory cells such as pain medications. Thus, the so-called radon heat therapy leads to long-lasting natural pain relief in inflammatory rheumatic diseases such as chronic polyarthritis and Bechterew's disease, rheumatic diseases and chronic painful conditions.

In practice, it looks like you are entering the tunnels in one go, with the train stopping at different stations at different temperatures. Then you lie in the swimsuit 60 minutes on wooden loungers - that's about as in the sauna, except that you can not weg weg and must wait until one of the train picks up again. Personally, I found that to be extremely distressing, but it seems to be helpful for chronic pain patients with more frequent treatment.

3. Workplace health management with a difference: Mountain meetings with a doctor's check-up

One of the most exciting hotels that has recently visited is the Graseck near Garmisch Partenkirchen - and not only because of the arrival by cable car: Für About It offers a combination of exclusive meetings and health checkup.

Already the arrival in the oldest, fully automatic small train of the world, year 1953, is a special feature:

From the forest house….

The top is the boutique hotel Das Graseck, which opened in 2015. The former royal Bavarian forester's house is located at an altitude of 900 meters in the middle of the nature reserve. From here the first expedition to the Zugspitze was undertaken, during which the summit cross was erected in 1851.

The forester's house was converted into a mountain inn only after it was sold from state ownership. In November 1968, the mountain inn burned down to the ground. During the reconstruction in 1970, a 3-star hiking hotel with an attached new building was built.

… To the boutique hotel

In May 2015 opened the two doctors Dr. Sylvia and Dr. Vincens Weingart after extensive renovations the Graseck again as an exclusive boutique hotel with attached medical practices, where guests in a beautiful ambience can perform preventive medical check-ups.

By the way, my absolute favorite place in the hotel is the 20 square meter pool with a temperature of 34 degrees. It doesn't look absolutely great on photos, but also offers a very picturesque view of the Wetterstein Mountains when you lie in it. Unfortunately, it is only too small for swimming, which is about to change in the future.

Room and wellness area

The 38 rooms are for the most part extremely spacious and modern furnished with solid wood furniture, partly extra-large beds and parquet floor. In the panorama rooms you have directly from the bed a fantastic view of the mountain panorama.

You can also enjoy the mountain panorama in the noble wellness area: In addition to the steam sauna and infrared cabin, there is a Finnish sauna, of course also with a view of the Wetterstein Mountains. A very rich fruit offer is available for refreshment.

Meeting rooms and conference package

For small meetings practically in the middle of nature, two meeting rooms of 65 sqm and 100 sqm are available, set-up costs and location fee per room and day are 150 and 250 euros respectively.

For a conference flat rate of 20 euros per person per day, drinks and standard conference technology such as projector, screen, flipchart, pin board and moderation case are available, additional technology and catering are available on request and at an additional cost.

Best of HR –®

Events and supporting program

The small size of the hotel is attractive for companies, as it can also be booked in full for company events - an option that many car companies in particular make use of again and again.

The hotel also offers the organization of an extensive program including: Zugspitze and Partnachklamm, torchlight hikes, cross-country skiing, biathlon, Schnuchschuwanderungen, mountain bike and climbing, and Seagwaytouren, rafting and even soapbox races.

Corporate Health Management

However, it is quite unique for companies to have their employees checked in as part of company health management - private health insurance companies also cover the costs.

The range of medical services covers internal medicine, urology, dermatology, gynecology, dentistry and sports and nutritional medicine. The costs are based on the scope of the investigations between 335 and 1590 Euro.

Best of HR –®

Healthy lifestyle

In addition, the physicians also provide advice on teaching a healthy lifestyle, which should also be part of a company health management in order to maintain the performance of the employees.

In this context, the hotel also offers workshops with partners in stress management or smoking cessation.

Best of HR –®

Healthy eating

Finally, the healthy cuisine is recommended, which is offered in the two restaurants and in summer in the beer garden. It also offers vegetarian and vegan dishes.

In addition, the kitchen is also on special wishes in the diet. By the way, you can also enjoy the wonderful view of the Wetterstein Mountains here.

4. Corporate health in thermal baths: like Bill Clinton & Udo Lindenberg

Corporate health is definitely on the rise as a trend: Companies have recognized how helpful corporate health management is for Employer Branding is. One possibility: thermal baths with a fitness studio - where you can also meet celebrities.

Best of HR –®

The history of the Kannewischer-Collection

The Kannewischer Collection, that is six thermal baths at five locations throughout Germany. However, the origins lie in Baden Baden, where the company 1994 with the Caracalla-Therme and the Friedrichsbad took over the first own baths.

At the same time, company founder Bernd Kannewischer actually became a baden specialist by chance. He founded 1972 in Zug, Switzerland, as an engineering company and planned 44 public indoor, outdoor, spa and thermal baths as well as hotel wellness and fitness facilities in Germany, the 250 Switzerland, France and Italy the technology.

He was also instrumental in the design of the Caracalla thermal spa, which opened in 1985, and took it on in 1993 as a tenant. The thermal bath built in a joint venture between city and country is considered a pioneer of modern wellness culture. Previously, thermal baths were strongly oriented towards rehabilitation and mostly had square pools. In Baden-Baden more healthy people should be addressed for the first time and the idea of prevention should be pursued. The slogan was "healthy bathing that is fun".

Corporate Health: How employees get fit for the job

This is exactly the idea that the company pursues today in its offers for employers, in which the topic of corporate health is increasingly moving into focus: prevention and stress reduction in order to keep employees as fit as possible despite all workloads. With such offers, employers ultimately also show that they are actively trying to attract their employees with such offers in the course of employer branding.

What are the advantages of a thermal bath? According to a study by the Medical University of Graz and the State Hospital St. Pölten, a 25-minute thermal bath already leads to a significant reduction in the cortisol content in saliva, which is considered a stress indicator. In addition, volunteers indicated that they felt much more relaxed bathing in well-tempered pools than those practicing other relaxation techniques. In addition, her pain on joints and spine noticeably decreased.

Best of HR –®

How thermal baths reduce the burden

The ideal temperature is around 35 ° C, which is felt to be particularly pleasant from a thermal point of view, because the body neither cools down nor overheats without movement. From a medical point of view, staying in the water also promotes the feeling of wellbeing for other reasons: The hydrostatic pressure promotes blood flow to the tissue and blood return to the heart, which stimulates the circulation.

The buoyancy and the associated decrease in weight, with the head above the surface only ten percent of it on land, relieves the entire musculoskeletal system, which can recover and loosen up; Brine even makes for a limbo. Moreover, water resistance enhances the training effect because movements are more strenuous and the muscles are more demanding - a concomitant factor that plays an important role in improving physical performance in prevention and rehabilitation.

If the water also contains salubrious minerals, which can affect the body even better through the heat, they will nourish the skin. Moreover, during an osmotic process they penetrate through the pores into the body and provide a deep effect on joints, metabolism or organs as well as on the cardiovascular system.

Thermal baths - anti-stress centers with a long tradition

Thermal baths are by no means a new invention and have a long tradition, especially in Baden-Baden: “Aquae Aureliae” was the name of the Roman settlement around hot springs. At the foot of the Schlossberg, Emperor Caracalla had soldiers' baths built, their well-preserved facilities, including towering walls and a sophisticated heating system. The ruins were uncovered in archaeological excavations and are now accessible to visitors in a small museum.

Directly above 1869 came up to 1877 Friedrichsbad: An opulent construction style of the Neo-Renaissance with richly decorated façade, hand-painted majolica tiles, stucco, statues and and a foyer that housed 1884 the first gym in Germany.

But the Friedrichsbad offers a very extraordinary experience that clearly stands out from the rest of the world Concept of many modern bathrooms. Refer to the Roman bathing tradition on the spiegelThe images for men and women are 17 stations that each visitor goes through in a given sequence. First, the extraordinary historical shower heads wash away the stress of everyday life: they are oversized and operated with large levers. Then the body is gradually warmed up in several steps.

Best of HR –®

Applications like Bill Clinton and Udo Lindenberg

It turns out that even the treatment refrained from modern Schnick-Schnack and rather oriented to traditional Kneipp cure. For example, an intermediate station is a stimulating soap-brush massage that scrubs 8 for minutes with thick-bristled brushes and curd soap. After steam bath, bubble baths and cold pools, the highlight of the treatment is clearly bathing in a circular exercise pool under the 18 meter high dome of a temple-like hall, where you suddenly feel relegated to Roman times for 2000 years.

Finally, visitors are pampered with a cream massage before they practice an 30-minute power nap under preheated sheets in the relaxation room. No wonder that the Friedrichsbad already attracted celebrities like Bill Clinton, Mikhail Gorbachev or Udo Lindenberg.

The history of Baden-Baden

The modern spa business in Baden Baden can also look back on a long history: it has been developing since the beginning of the 16th century and flourished in the 19th century when nobles from all over Europe flocked to the "summer capital of Europe" to spend weeks in sophisticated atmosphere and healthy. Among the guests were the Russian scribblers Tolstoy and Dostoevsky, the latter in particular lost a lot of money in the well-known casino

But Baden Baden has much more to offer: the casino, where once the Russian poets Dostojewski and Tolstoy lost money, the Festspielhaus, the Museum Frieder Burda, designed by the American star architect Richard Meier or the Lichtentaler Allee by park and gardens along the Oos. Also as a hiking area, the region is charming with various castles.

UNESCO world heritage site

No wonder that the small town but extremely chic city, which has only 55.000 inhabitants and is located near the French border, attracts visitors from all over the world: from Asia and the Arab Gulf States to Russia, the countries of origin of the guests, the city around 910.000 Overnight stays a year and not infrequently call luxurious second domiciles in Baden-Baden their own.

To this day, magnificent buildings are reminiscent of this heyday and make the history of the city an impressive experience at every turn. With good reason, Baden-Baden is one of eleven top-class “Great Spas of Europe” from Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, France, Belgium and Great Britain, all of which strive for recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Germany provides three participants, alongside Baden-Baden, Bad Ems and Bad Kissingen, also locations of the Kannewischer Collection.

Modern spa facility

Within sight of the historical Friedrichsbad lies as a modern counterpart the Caracalla Therme. With its architectural appeal to antiquity, it opens up a diverse world of relaxation on two floors - ranging from the spacious indoor and outdoor pools to the Blue Space sensory room to the wellness lounge, where relaxation and well-being are the focus of treatments and massages.

On more than 4.000 square meters, it offers massage jets, waterfalls, water mushrooms, underwater floodlights and two grottos bathing in the indoor pool, which also spans a large dome, as well as outside in two pools with whirlpools and a lazy river to experience.

Sauna and treatments: offers for companies

The sauna area on the first floor offers seven saunas. A specialty here is the “Spectaculum”, which elaborately stages infusions with light and sound effects for all the senses and up to 80 people. The Blue Space sensory space revolves around mental regeneration, where you can listen to artistic compositions on spherically luminous, gently vibrating couches, which are sounded with new loudspeaker technology.

Both spas offer a wide range of treatments such as massages, beauty treatments, body wraps and peelings, or natural-turf deep-heat treatments.

Kannewischer offers companies, for example, major customer discounts for entry into the terms or special promotions such as the health day at the spa, which includes a seminar, a fitness and relaxation course, water aerobics and 3 Hours free spa entrance at a discounted price.

5. Meetings & Incentives for the Health Conscious: Group Activities in Reiner Calmund's footsteps

At the Falkensteiner Hotel and Spa Carinzia, Carinthia, right at the foot of the Nassfeld ski area, ex-Bayer Leverkusen manager Reiner Calmund was already on the decline. In fact, the hotel not only offers seven meeting and conference rooms, but also a health and sports program suitable for team building activities and incentives.

Location and rooms

The Falkensteiner Hotel and Spa Carinzia is located in Carinthia, directly at the foot of the Nassfeld ski area. It offers conference rooms and meeting technology with health and wellness concept in good value for money. Even Reiner Calmund was already here to lose weight.

Video Note: If you don't see a video here, you have to activate the option “Watch videos” at the end of the page under “Privacy and Cookies”!

The 30-star Falkensteiner Hotel and Spa Carinzia is located directly at the valley station of the Millennium Express cable car on Nassfeld, in winter only a few meters from one of the 110 lifts and thus from the 4-kilometer-long slope area traditional Carinthian architecturespiegeln should, but therefore looks a little built-in

It has 114 double rooms, 39 junior suites and seven seniors suites, which offer a great view of the surrounding countryside. The prices for one night including half board start with 80 in the summer and with 99 Euro in winter. Depending on the view, category and season, the prices per night can rise to 350 Euro.

The conference center

The Carinzia Conference Center offers space with 7 rooms of varying sizes up to 520 persons on a total of 900 m². The largest of them, the room Acquamarin with a size of 340 square meters, can accommodate up to 250 persons (in the U-shape it is only 60) and costs 900 Euro for a full and 550 Euro for half a day. The smaller spaces are large between 22 and 253 square meters and offer space for 10 to 70 people.

They cost between 60 and 300 Euro for the half or 100 and 400 Eur for the whole day. Two of the rooms, the 22 square meter of small space ruby for a maximum of 10 persons and the 90 square meter of space ruby for up to 60 persons are located directly in the hotel lobby.

The equipment

Included in the room rental are beamer, screen, CD / DVD player, two flipcharts, writing pads and pens, lectern, two pin boards and moderator case. Free, free Wi-Fi is available throughout the house.

If desired, however, the WLAN can be supplemented by additional capacities and - if this is required for reasons of data security - a landline connection. Likewise, at extra charge for 50 Euro a day a laptop is available, just as much as a stage costs, a wireless microphone beats with 20 Euro a day to book. Copies and printouts are billed between 10 and 40 Cent.

The catering

The hotel has a bar and various restaurant areas: the panoramic restaurant, which serves the breakfast buffet and the evening 5 course menu, the restaurant Lux for more sophisticated requirements with an open fireplace, in winter an apres-ski restaurant, a pizzeria and the Hotel bar with sun terrace, where the afternoon snack, usually a soup, as well as up to 12 clock a langschläfer breakfast is served.

The meals here can also be taken in the bathrobe, which could disturb so many conference participants. In addition, conference participants can hold their coffee break here or the hotel organizes coffee breaks in the room or in the foyer of the conference center. Per coffee break are billed between 5,60 Euro and 8,60.

The Conference Packages

For a business lunch, depending on the number of courses, the hotel will charge from Euro 18 per person, dinner is included in the half-board, but gala dinner, barbecue or hut dinner are also possible.

The various packages offered by the hotel, such as a seminar room with equipment, a drink and a coffee break for 23 Euro or the same with 3 course business lunch for 35 Euro, are cheaper than the individual prices. The second part of the article focuses on healthy eating, as well as the group and sports program for incentives.

Salad bar with small smears

It is not only good quality, but health is also taken into consideration here. There is a large salad bar at dinner, which invites you to a full meal, a selection of different bread specialties as well as a department for specialties from Carinthia. Unfortunately the salad in the test was not always fresh.

The so-called Alpe-Adria cuisine combines Austrian, Croatian and South Tyrolean cuisine. And so you can find lamb and fish between Mediterranean pasta and South Tyrolean dumpling soup or at the breakfast buffet apple strudel as well as baked polenta.

No gourmet kitchen but good value for money

And of course, at breakfast there is also a rich selection of healthy foods such as fruit, Ceralien 10 various decanters with juice, several of which are freshly squeezed juices of orange or melon and whey in addition.

On request and demand, the hotel will also be happy to answer any special requests, such as the gluten-free bread, which tastes good even if you do not want it to be baked and brought to the table in a plastic package.

It is precisely these small things that show up: A culinary highlight, which also delights the fine gourmet palate, the food is not and you can not expect that in an 4 star house. Also the service has no 5 star level, although the staff are all very nice.

The outdoor pool opens in winter only around 11

Nevertheless, the price-performance ratio is overall very good, which is also due to the 2.400 m² Acquapura SPA and the hotel's range of sports and activities. A total of 16 bathing, sweating and relaxation attractions are available here - including massages, private spa, block sauna in the outdoor area, infrared room or brine steam bath.

The large outdoor pool is even at minus degrees in the winter with 30 degrees Celsius still pleasantly warm invites also in the evening for the swimming in the steam mist. Unfortunately it is open in winter only from 11, at the request of seminar participants and if the temperature allows it but earlier. The smaller indoor pool is already open from 7.

There is an individual SPA consultation that is adapted to the biorhythm. The hotel puts bathrobe and flip flops. Also, the former Bayer Leverkusen manager Reiner Calmund has taken this offer including personal trainer already in order to lose a few pounds.

Activities for groups and incentives

There is not only a fitness center and childcare, but the hotel also offers a wide range of activities, such as group sessions with its own coach, for relaxation techniques, meditation or Nordic walking or various teambuilding activities such as rock labyrinth, fun sport competitions, mountain biking Hiking, climbing, canyoning, rafting, adventure boats, grillevents at idyllic places and much more. The hotel even has its own ski rental and - if families are - child care. An individual group program is also available.

In the summer, the PLUS CARD is also included in the price for the half-board, which allows free use of the cableway and a shuttle service to Presseggersee, so that you do not even need a car for your stay. In addition, you can use the 5 KM distant 18 hole golf course Gailtal during the week with 50 percent discount. All seminar and activity offers and packages can be found here.

The hot springs

The special feature, however, is that the hotel not only has a sauna and spa in the basement, but also operates its own geothermal spa facility in Laugarvatn Fontana, an hour's drive outside of Rekjavik.

The water comes from a natural geothermal spring that has been in use since 1929 and fluctuates between 40 ° C and 50 ° C.

Thermal baths in the Golden Circle

The complex is located in the heart of the Golden Circle, one of the most popular travel routes in South Iceland, where one can visit Iceland's most important sightseeing in one day:

The former Thing site Þingvellir in the national park of the same name, the geothermal area Haukadalur with various geysers, the waterfall Gullfoss, whose name “golden waterfall” coined the term Golden Circle and the former bishopric Skálholt.
