So of course I was curious about what exactly Google News would bring me. I had read a lot beforehand about how much more traffic Google News should flush onto a page, so I also made a lot of effort to get listed by Google News.

In fact, it's not that easy: Google News is a computer-generated news website that collects headlines from more than 700 German-language news sources worldwide. And even if that Article are selected and weighted by computers, one is faced with a human hurdle when recording, as Sistrix writes:

There are also other criteria that are rumored to be relevant. For example, the site after Sistrix should not contain any 301 redirects, which are present with me however. Or the URL should contain numbers best still in the daily-month-year format - in fact, at least three digits are needed.

However, ME is necessary when including one thing: a certain relevance of the page. So I tried unsuccessfully to get included in Google News years ago and was surprisingly "in" a few months ago.

Google News Listing in the technical implementation

Also the technical one Implementation is not that easy: the inclusion of the page must be requested in the Google News Publisher Center. You also have to select a suitable category, eg “Blog”. It is also advisable to enter meta keywords after the Pattern: (more on that at Sistrix).

A Google News Sitemap is absolutely necessary clear differs from a normal sitemap. I use the plugin Google News Sitemap by Andrea Pernici. I've also had plugin combinations before that generate normal and news sitemaps alike, but really satisfied I wasn't with that. So now two plugins for two sitemaps.

What does Google News really do for businesses?

Opinions on the added value of Google News are divided. Some say it brings them a few more clicks, others say that it has no significant impact on search engine optimization or traffic. Konstantin Matern analyzed on Webkoma how a single Google News brought him an added value of 36.000 hits per day.

I'm having a similar experience right now: just being listed in Google News doesn't do much. But if you go to one Term with a high search density, in this case “Duales Study” is fired by Google News on the home page, it can certainly bring significant increases in traffic.

The Combination Search engine relevant topics and Google News can actually have a significant impact on the development of a website.
