The 5 best event locations in Bad Aibling: Meetings, seminars and health in the foothills of the Alps {Review}

Bad Aibling offers an excellent infrastructure for all kinds of conferences 60 km from Munich. This is ensured by a cooperation between the city and various hotels.

City on the water: Conferences in Germany's youngest thermal bath

Bad Aibling in the Upper Bavarian Mangfall Valley surprised me positively and not only because the small town of Bavaria is the oldest mud spa and at the same time Germany's youngest thermal bath. Because in the city with almost 20.000 inhabitants there is also a lot going on in the event area - it offers us the ideal connection for conferences with a health-specific reference.

Every year in September, the Bad Aibling Health Days take place as part of the “Bad Aibling moves!” Initiative, which offers a wide range of information on the subject of health for two days - including the opportunity to try out facilities for yourself.

Health experts on site

There is a wide range of wellness options and a diverse sauna landscape. The award-winning Therme Bad Aibling offers occidental and Far Eastern applications under the eight thermal bath domes - from rasul baths to hammam ceremonies. Last but not least, the bathroom also impresses with its modern, futuristic architecture.

But wellness is only one mainstay: The spa town not only offers numerous doctors and health care providers who can support events with the appropriate expertise, but also eight clinics, including one rheumatism and two Rhea facilities. But guests can not only be treated as an inpatient; outpatient cures and various prevention programs are also offered.

Burnout prevention and events

If you want to do something against stress in your professional life and prevent possible burnout, you can relax in Bad Aibling and collect new energy. With perfectly combined applications, the effectiveness of which has been scientifically proven, those affected can devote themselves to the care of body and mind. After the three-week prevention program "In the moor to inner balance" the way is clear again for a confident look into the future and a harmonious life.

This builds a bridge to the numerous events in the city: Art and culture enthusiasts, for example, appreciate the diverse and sophisticated Aiblingen range of music and theater performances all year round. In summer, for example, every Friday evening for five months it is “free and outside”: Then newcomers and well-known musicians from the region are on the stage in the spa gardens. November is dedicated to the international guitar festival “Saitensprünge” with world stars of the acoustic guitar.

The 5 best event locations in Bad Aibling

For conferences, just under 60 km from Munich, there are five very different locations available, which have come together to form a network and thus complement each other perfectly. Thanks to the short distances, it is also possible to distribute the participants and events to different houses. All are certified and allergy-friendly and there is something for every need:

1. Central contact point for conferences: The Kurhaus Bad Aibling

First there is the modern “Kurhaus Bad Aibling” with its timeless and elegant architecture. Clear lines, bright rooms and the surrounding spa gardens make every event a relaxing experience. The house offers more than 1.370 square meters of space for up to 1.100 people and has 7 combination options for rooms that can be used as desired and required. The largest room is the large hall with 380 square meters.

The conference rooms are equipped with sound and projection technology, and full stage technology is available. If required, a flip chart and presentation case are also provided. The city can also provide a varied, health-oriented supporting program: from a cooking course with local nutrition experts, yoga courses, bike tours on the Chiemsee 30 km away to a special train on the Wendelstein with cocktails on the train, a lot is possible.

2. Conference hotel in the city center: The Lindner

The romantic hotel Das Lindner with 56 rooms is located in the city center of Bad Aibling: As a former castle with over 170 years of tradition in the center of Bad Aibling, it has retained the charm of earlier times, but at the same time offers excellently equipped business location and partly modern, partly traditional but high quality rooms. The hotel has been certified accordingly for the use of regional organic products and the careful use of resources, such as lighting with energy-saving compact fluorescent lamps and LED technology. With a block-type thermal power station, self-generated heat and electricity are used on site; the overall efficiency here is 90%. There are also chargers for electric cars and eBikes.

The five different event rooms, all with daylight and floor-to-ceiling windows, offer an exceptional setting for up to 80 people. On the 1st floor there is an overwhelming feeling of space through the open gable in the light-flooded 110m² room and in the ground floor there is even an integrated kitchen with beech wood grill and direct terrace access for use by groups. When the weather is nice, the floor-to-ceiling windows are opened. This enables maximum fresh air and, if desired, the seminar can be completely relocated outside. The wine and castle cellars, on the other hand, invite you to take part in extraordinary events with their historical ambience, and even a real knightly order meets here.

3. Team building at the wakebase: Schmelmer Hof

The more traditional, family-run 4-star Schmelmer Hof hotel with 107 rooms is located on the quiet outskirts of Bad Aibling. The highlight of the hotel is the in-house swimming lake, which is located 300 meters away from the hotel. Embedded in a spacious property there is its own wakebase, water ski and beach facility, which can be used for team building events and other events. In addition, a 1200 square meter wellness area with a large swimming pool and various saunas and steam baths invite you to relax.

Five conference rooms with modern technical equipment, including a permanently installed TW 300 projector with 3000 Ansi lumens, a portable X 2000 projector with 2000 Ansi lumens and wireless microphones, are available. There is also a projector, flipchart, lectern and screen. The rooms can also be combined with each other. The largest room is 130 square meters. The parlors, in which the food is normally served, and the grill hut can also be booked for events.

4. Largest conference hotel in the city: St. Georg

Also outside, on the edge of the forest, but only 1,5 km from the city center, is the 4-star Hotel St. Georg with 220 rooms. Among other things, it offers a 400 square meter drivable conference center, which consists of six rooms. With flexible, soundproof walls, different room variants can be created within a very short time. All conference rooms have daylight, air conditioning and can be completely darkened. In addition, the seating in the conference center and in the newly renovated Siggi Sommer and Ludwig Thoma rooms was renewed in 2018.

A total of 17 modern conference rooms with a size between 21 and 400 square meters are available. A special feature is that these are partly honeycombed and can also be combined with one another. In addition to free WiFi, the technical equipment includes flipcharts, moderator's case, screen, projector, OHP, camera, TV, documentary camera. Laptop, whiteboard, pin board, microphone system, stage, lectern, sound system including microphone technology.

The hotel also has a large SPA area with an indoor pool, whirlpool, various saunas, fitness room, sunbathing area, wellness center, cosmetic institute, a multi-purpose sports area, an archery range and table tennis tables. It also offers bike rental for e-bikes and a charging station for Tesla and other electric cars.

5. From the military barracks to the ecological design hotel: The B&O Parkhotel

Finally, the B&O Parkhotel with 67 rooms and apartments is fully geared towards conferences and seminars, a good 4 km outside the city center. The spacious hotel complex, quasi an independent conference center, is picturesquely embedded in a six hectare idyllic park with old trees, a swimming pool as well as a natural bathing pond and several deck chairs invite you to relax.

The hotel emerged from a barracks used by the US military, which explains the campus character of the site on which there is also a school. The hotel is managed by the local housing industryCompany B&O operated, you can also see it as a kind of showcase for modern living space renovation. The highlights of the facility are a stylish, minimalist, timelessly elegant design as well as the 600 square meter solar thermal system and a wood chip power plant, built by the South Tyrolean architect Matteo Thun.

While a hot water tank collects the solar energy generated by solar collectors, energy-efficient equipment is used in the conference area and paper is largely dispensed with. The 14 bright event rooms - the total area for the conference area is 2.000 sqm - are all equipped with real wood floors, as is the entire hotel. The rooms on the ground floor all have access to the terrace and daylight, so that events can be spontaneously moved outside at any time, the Cambridge hall with 410 square meters has a ceiling height of up to 8 m. A free-standing wooden pavilion with a fireplace invites you to cozy board meetings.

The interplay of environmental protection and luxurious design is also evident in the spacious restaurant area with winter garden and terrace with a view of the Alps: the kitchen offers regional products and varied seasonal cuisine, the resulting CO2 emissions are offset by donations to climate protection organizations.
