If you live in Dortmund in a small or very big Companys work with great colleagues, then you might be the happiest Employees of Germany. According to a recent study, the place of work and the environment are decisive factors.
LinkedIn has 10.000 professional and Executives and surveyed 3.700 HR managers to give us an international picture of how happy professionals are today. A surprising result for me:
We Germans top the ranking - 56,3 percent of the respondents in this country stated that they were “fulfilled” or “very fulfilled” at work. Dortmund (62,7%) wins in the inner German city ranking, closely followed by Berlin, Stuttgart, Cologne and Hamburg. Only then do Essen, Munich, Düsseldorf or Frankfurt am Main appear.
But what makes the Germans so happy in the Job? Great colleagues and a good one salary both play an important role. 37,6 percent of those surveyed are in favor of their colleagues, 35 percent think that Money is the most important factor for a fulfilling working life. Almost a third is also the Opinionsthat personal responsibility is an important aspect.
The result will be HR- Experts surprise. At 45 percent, they believe that salary is the decisive factor satisfaction plays, followed by the relationship with the manager.
The privacy must not be neglected in all the work. 42,4 percent stated that the correct Work-Life-Balance is essential for a full life. More than three quarters of those surveyed (78,8%) would be satisfied with a lower salary if it improved their ratio of working hours and time for private life.
In my opinion, our study results are also exciting when we look at different groups:
The highest levels of satisfaction were given by employees in very small (up to nine employees) and very large (5.000 employees or more) companies – two-thirds of each People there is “fulfilled” or “very satisfied” with their work. The companies in between, on the other hand, only achieve a value of 48,1 percent. Perhaps because, on the one hand, there is still so much idealism involved in start-ups and the structures and environment in very large companies are so professional? Feel free to discuss this point with me in the comments, I would be very interested in your opinion.
Further results: bosses are more satisfied than juniors or middle management, men seem to be more fulfilling at work than Women. Only every tenth junior and 14 percent of middle management professionals are “fulfilled” or “very satisfied”. In higher positions, the situation is quite different when it comes to satisfaction: a third of company owners, 29 percent of managing directors and 24 percent in senior management are satisfied.
In addition, men are 60,3 percent happier in their jobs than women, for whom only 48,2 percent stated “fulfilled” or “very fulfilled”. I would also be very interested in your assessment of this.
You can already see from the numbers above: There are also people who are not quite so happy with their Tasks are. More than two-thirds of those surveyed stated that they were fundamentally open to an offer from a recruiter.
My tip to this group: Do not just look at the tasks and the salary when looking for the next job. Instead, follow these steps:
