- Non-consecutive postgraduateCourses: do not build on the previous course. However, access requirements are usually a completed university degree.
- PostgraduateCourses: have a university degree, followed by a qualified professional experience of not less than one year. The contents of the postgraduate postgraduate studies are intended to take account of the professional experience and to build on it. Dear Mrs. Janson,
First of all many, many thanks for your really great blog or for your book. The give a courage for the future beyond various FAZ articles à la humanities scientists have it difficult.
Now about myself I am (turned) 29 and a little more than a year ago I finished my MA in history and political science. After that, to my regret, I decided to do a doctoral thesis without much thought and worked on it rather unsatisfactorily until February and for various reasons (including a poorer position on the job market after 5,9 years (according to a Verdi study) said goodbye to the idea. As a sideline, I worked as a freelancer in the promotion department and as an interviewer, where I discovered that I can talk to people, sometimes manipulate and sell them, and would also want to use this “talent” for a later career.
I could now go to the search for a position - with the restricted qualification profile of the spiritual scientists - at least in the eyes of the local economic culture. Or I am doing a postgraduate course, which could also increase my chances on the national market.
Since I am very much - excuse me now please my attitude, I would not like to steal anybody - in Germany repels, I can also imagine doing a postgraduate course abroad and if I like to stay there too. Besides, the adventure is exciting to me.
I have been thinking about Flanders, England, Wales or the Netherlands. As a course of studies for me generalistic direction such as Mangement, Marketing like Public Mangement. Especially in England, I have a large number of postgraduate (taught) MScs in the universities, which, in contrast to existing consecutive masters, are aimed specifically at postgraduates of all disciplines. Well, there are no MBAs, but mostly for a year, no professional experience is required and especially they are not as expensive as MBAs.
However, I do not know what to think of theseCourses. What would they bring to me for the labor market in Germany (even without special accreditation, after all, they are logically in English)? In a nutshell, I am longing for a new adventure that will open many doors for me relatively quickly and get me into my "job" quickly. And I long for a second title after I'm no longer doing a doctorate (please forgive me for this vanity cool).

To your questions: Congratulations on the idea to go abroad. I always only hear from various acquaintances, that it should be easier there, because supposedly more to the capabilities looked and less tightly attached to the study subject. I can understand your frustration, I also share.
I had a friend who worked in London for three years as a stockbroker. Her only qualifications: she could be three-language fluent - everything else was training on the job.
I think it's nice that you want to qualify. In my estimation, however, it is ultimately more and more important to have good contacts and relevant practical experiences. Whether the construction study really brings something, depends ultimately on the labor market situation and the person who discontinues it. As we were able to experience in the blog last week, we can also make sure that the predictions are going to be tough. Ultimately, it depends on you and your commitment.
