Tech recruiting is a site matter
For Recruiter it is helpful to know your own regional locational advantages and to know what potential is available. What can our Germans do? Developer, what languages do they program and where can you find them? Most programmers are full-stack developers (59,6 percent), so they have sufficient knowledge of all the necessary technologies to build a fully functional web application.
This is also in line with the global trend towards a fluid flow between front-end and back-end specialists. However, one has to say that it is generally in Germany clear There are more generalists than experts and, interestingly enough, the specialist areas also differ here, depending on which region of Germany you are in. For example, there are more Python developers in Berlin than in Frankfurt. In Stuttgart, on the other hand, there are more graphics programmers than anywhere else.

Germany, your developers - a look at important economic regions
Germany has many different focal points in IT Economy. There are six priority regions.
- Most of the developers can be found in the Rhine / Ruhr region, where 94.000 developers, of which 59,5 percent are regarded as full-stack developers, work there. Of these, in turn, the languages dominate Java 13,9 percent of developers, PHP 12,3 percent, and Python 10,8 percent of the experts.
- It looks a bit different in the founder's capital Berlin: With some 82.000 developers, it ranks second among the largest developer regions in Germany. The most widely used languages are Python, followed by Ruby and NodeJS. Especially the high density of mobile developers in Berlin is interesting: their share is 6,1 percent, in contrast to 5,3 percent on the German average.
- Often referred to as the "Isar Valley", the Bavarian capital Munich is represented by just over 65.000 developers. Most of these specialists are full-stack developers. The rest are spread across languages such as Python, Java and NodeJS. Besides Berlin, Munich is the only one of the six regions examined in which Java is not the most widely used language.
- Frankfurt am Main is the fourth largest developer location and is home to around 48.000 developers, slightly more than half of whom are full-stack developers. The rest are spread across Java, .NET and other programming languages.
- The Stuttgart / Karlsruhe region is almost 40.000 developers, including 60 percent full-stack developers. In addition to specialists for Java, Python and NodeJS, there is a high number of graphics programmers. Although the region is only the fifth-largest developer site, it can not be underestimated as a start-up location: Karlsruhe is the second-largest company in the ICT sector after Hamburg, and the proximity to large companies such as SAP also has some advantages.
- Although Hamburg is the smallest developer region in the survey, the Hanseatic city is regarded as an IT stronghold because the IT sector is one of the most important economic factors: 37.839 developers have their residence here. In addition to the 63,3 percent full-stack developers, the language spectrum is split between Java, PHP and Ruby.
How do companies find suitable employees?

Regardless of how many developers or universities are at a location, each one is displayed Companys Depending on the industry and the developer you are looking for, you have your own set of challenges. Sometimes competition has a positive effect because more companies attract more developers to a region. On the other hand, it could then be more difficult to work out a unique selling point as an employer and to position yourself clearly.
This is particularly important when recruiting and addressing employees. Who is our company and what do we stand for? What else do we offer in addition to table football and a playroom? The fact is that the situation will not get any easier in the next few years, since the specialists can choose where they work or are self-employed. Networks and techRecruiting-Use companies that know their target group.
What is the future?
In Future the demand for IT specialists will remain high - and will even increase. According to a study by the digital association bitkom, 1,03 million people work in ICT companies, and the number of jobs in 2015 rose even faster than expected. The industry therefore promises the best conditions for ambitious programmers - above all through new technologies such as machine learning, self-driving cars or virtual reality. These will make completely new branches of the economy possible.
At the same time, there is great competition among recruiters because the greatest talents are in great demand. In the future, it will therefore be necessary to know the market exactly and to win over the right programmers through precise addressing and increased added value. In my previous one, you can read about how best to proceed in order to be well positioned for the future Article.
