5. Dignified MICE location in a central location: The Waldorf Astoria Berlin

Best of HR – Berufebilder.de®

The Waldorf Astoria Berlin is a solid event location in a central location in the western part of the city. If you want to avoid surprises, this is also right for larger events. The atmosphere is different; even the new Romanesque café can not change this impression.

Rooms, meetings, seminars and conferences

The Waldorf Astoria Berlin, which belongs to the Hilton Group, is located centrally in the western part of the city between the Zoological Garden and Kufürstendamm. It has 152 deluxe guest rooms, 59 of which have panoramic views, and 80 individually designed suites with views of Berlin.

For meetings, seminars and conferences, a ballroom and five function rooms are available on the second floor of the hotel. Depending on the seating and event the rooms are suitable for between 10 and 350 persons:

The John Jacob Astor ballroom can accommodate up to 350 or in row seating 235 guests. In addition to a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system, he has a professionally equipped stage.

Salons and terrace

In honor of the Waldorf-Astoria New York, smaller venues are designated as salons named after the famous streets and neighborhoods of Manhattan. In addition, salons such as Lexington and Madison Avenue can be combined to accommodate up to 110 guests in row seating.

The event terrace on the sixth floor with views over the city can accommodate up to 200 guests. Anyone who books the terrace for an event automatically gets the ballroom - if the weather changes suddenly. In summer, the terrace is open from 17 clock to open end for external guests and network meetings.

Noble equipment

As a special location, the library in 15. Floor also with beautiful views over Berlin rented. However, there is space for no more than 30 persons. The library thus fulfills the function of an executive lounge normally used for Hilton hotels, which is also open to guests and is open daily from 17 to 22.

Any kind of equipment for office work and events can be rented locally for an additional charge - in the Business Center in the 2. Floor. The equipment takes over conference equipment KFP. These include projector, laptop, sound system and the like. Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel at an additional cost.

Of course, there are also printers and printers in the business center Internet-ports for laptops. It also offers six versatile rooms suitable for meetings and small conferences.

Restaurants

The hotel has 4 dining options: The main restaurant “Les Solistes by Pierre Gagnaire”, in which the rich Waldorf breakfast and a la carte dinner are served, the Romanisches Café on the ground floor with a terrace facing Kantstrasse, the Lang Bar on the 1st floor. The library on the 15th floor with a fantastic view of City West and the lobby bar in Peacock Alley, right next to the Waldorf Astoria Grandfathers Clock.

I was only able to try the business lunch at Romanisches Kaffee - and wasn't impressed. Even if 18 euros is quite cheap, the food has to be measured by the expected standards of the hotel: the carrot and ginger soup was a tad too bitter, the bread was baked and the potatoes and vegetables with the roast beef steak tasted warmed up . Many Berlin snack bars offer better food. One has me however fast insuredthat various caterers are available for events.

In general, the Romanisches Café is a disappointment: in the 20th century the ultimate meeting place for Berlin artists and intellectuals, then destroyed in the war, it was reopened in 2012 in the Waldorf-Astoria. However, the new café has little in common with the historic cities it refers to, as they were located a few meters away from the Memorial Church. And there is also little resemblance to the furnishing of the original location, it lacks the flair and cosiness that one expects from such a place. No wonder that Criticism was and is violent. Even the half-hearted attempt to draw artists and intellectuals into the restaurant with literary competitions and readings will not change that.
