Four students tell how they study for the Abitur and give others tips. In doing so, they reveal something surprising: that Internet or even mobile learning, on the other hand, do not play a major role, books and teaching materials are still the most common Preparation utilized.

They will all complete their university entrance qualification this year and thus acquire the ability to study: the students Isabel Nives Peckel, Carsten Harms, Roland Rust and Ina Tinis. They all attend the Carl von Ossietzky school center in Bremerhaven and are 19 years old. What do you use - besides the school books - for learning and preparation for the Abitur and what role do new media like CD, Internet and Handy / iPhone play?

Isabel Nives Peckel: Besides school books, I use my own teaching protocols. Internet and mobile phones serve as a small learning support, for example, to search for additional information. Carsten Harms: I also use the lesson materials. I only use new media very rarely. Roland Rust: for Things to Learn I mostly use materials from school. When I have problems understanding I sometimes look on the internet, but I prefer to rely on the help of my teachers, which I am happy to send to them by email eMail contact This usually works fast and uncomplicated, the teacher can also recommend reliable websites for further research. Ina Tinis: The Internet plays an important role for me, is my main source of information. I am also interested in high school preparatory books. I do not use the mobile phone.

Do you also use original exams for learning, and if so, how?

Isabel Nives Peckel: Yes, I look at the task again and check whether I can still answer it, and if not, I repeat this topic area. Carsten Harms: I use Originalklausuren only if the corresponding documents are not present in my portfolio or my booklet. This has so far only been the case in mathematics and physics. Roland Rust: I don't use original exams for learning. Ina Tinis: No, not until now.

How do you see a typical learning afternoon?

Isabel Nives Peckel: So far I have mostly not "learned" properly. I look at my portfolio on the subject, read through my notes once or twice and try not to memorize, but to internalize the content

Carsten Harms: I sit down at my desk and read through the documents again, edit them Tasks and worry about things I don't understand.

Roland Rust: Most of the time, I relax with a cup of tea at the desk, pick out the appropriate materials, and write out important things that I have previously marked with a marker. I compress this important thing again to Essenziellees. So the substance is the best form for me, and the potential cheat sheet, which comes out, I do not need anymore.

Ina Tinis: I need my documents first sortieren. Then I make index cards. I usually take a lot of breaks while studying.

From student to student: What tips can you give prospective graduates for effective and sustainable learning? What are your best learning tricks for exam preparation?

Isabel Nives Peckel: For me, it was always easiest to write everything I thought important in the classroom. For only through these whole notes will much more remain hanging than if I were to sit. In addition, I can so later my notes again and submit for the examinations again. Due to the fact that I have already written it down all the time, it is much easier for me to internalize the contents of the exam when reading the material again. Carsten Harms: PC / console / music off! That distracts very much. Create a quiet learning atmosphere! Roland Rust: Probably the best method is not to do everything at the last minute, because then you will quickly realize that it is not as little as you had imagined. The best are small milestones that you set yourself so as not to be overwhelmed with too much material at once. As long as it's well divided and little at a time, the learning actually makes quite a difference Fun and you quickly notice the first successes, since little learning material can be memorized better and you have enough time to internalize everything. Ina Tinis: I create my own index cards. After working independently, I try to form a working group with my classmates. In that one can compare the learned.

What about you with the topic test anxiety and how do you handle exam pressure? Do you have any tips for your classmates?

Isabel Nives Peckel: I haven't experienced any real test anxiety before. Just a little excitement, but I think that's part of it. I think if you prepare yourself sufficiently, you don't need one Anxiety to have before the exams. Carsten Harms: Yes, I am afraid of the exams. What helps? The fact that you are under Stress and excitement works more concentrated. At least that's the case for me. This also helps in the exams themselves and not only in the preparation. Roland Rust: I'm not afraid of normal exams, but I'm also uncomfortable in the face of the upcoming final exams. I am happy to go to friends who have already graduated from high school, let me tell them how it was and believe them that it is not that bad. I'm a little scared of the test but most of all, it helps me sleep enough. The high school diploma is a very big step, but he does not decide on your whole remaining life. So I try to calm down.
