During the Süddeutschen was just reading, like herself HR statements in job interviews. Namely apparently nice packed up. It was about school leavers! And I asked myself while reading: why always these silly little games? Do HR managers really like, sorry, being fooled?
In which Article, which has just been published under , 33-year-old Sandra Seedorf, human resources manager at the advertising agency Draftfcb in Hamburg, is surprised “that just Boy Candidate aiming for the same blunders over and over again.”
The answer is the same: The young people just have too little experience.
So why should you? know suspect that the HR managers would prefer to do better Background want to hear the nicely packaged (un)truth - maybe because they can't stand the unvarnished truth? the in job interview The frequently asked question "Why do you want to come to us?" Of course, everyone would like to answer it with "You're awesome, you're the best!" have answered.
Which is understandable that you want to find out in this way whether the applicant also has industry knowledge and are really in favor of that Companys interested. If that's really the case. I don't think you can expect a school leaver to be in the Industry really got through. With them it is usually the same as the article says: They look at the first five companies at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce – and just give it a try.
Personnel manager Seedorf, meanwhile, advises “packaging it more charmingly”. For example, that you came across the company by chance, but then decided for it customers or projects.
I asked myself: Why this circumstance and this waste of time - if, as a personnel, you know anyway that it is only nicely packaged? Why not be happy that the job candidate seems to be able to work efficiently?
And of course, every HR manager is actually clear, that applicants under no circumstances their lives in Office want to spend. At least it should be clear. After all, the company does not give alms, but wants to benefit from the workforce. A win-win situation for both, in which the company can show that it really cares about a good working relationship. And also really important in the course of personnel marketing for the top employees!
So what's the nonsense that applicants shouldn't ask about their next vacation or working hours? Who really takes it from the applicant when he asks “in which Team would I work? " Is the honest man really stupid again? And, with all due respect, do HR professionals really want to be fooled as it is in the article?

Thank you for this insight from the perspective of the applicant!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this article. You speak to me from the soul. In every application interview I have to go back to the theater again and every time I think that both sides know that it is bullshit.
Hello Karen, well ... I was astonished by the statements in the text precisely because I also know counterexamples. But in the past I often had the impression that you apparently took away from job interviews. That was one of the reasons for starting my own business.
Only, with a secure, indefinite job is nothing. But how did a friend get to the point: one must consider what is worse: The boss (edit: and thus the adjustment to such companies) or the uncertainty (edit: as a self-employed).
As I said, I now also know other examples - but you need a little patience and luck to find them. One should perhaps not give up hope.

I think your text is great. It hits the bull's eye, the HR managers just want to show their “superiority”, it's not about professional qualifications, but about paying homage to the company staff and just not having too much personality.
Thank you, keep it up.
Regards
Karen
That is exactly what I meant: The text in the SZ shows, for me, how idiotic this question is ... Therefore, thank you for the nice throw in .. thank you for giving the full name - as you can see, not a matter of course for many commentators !
When I think of myself as a freelancer working in agencies or projects, I usually realize very quickly whether communication and mutual interest are right. This also applies to my counterpart. If I were asked why I would like to come to this company, I know it would be the wrong job for me. Why this question? Did not you notice which skills I imagine? Do not you know your own market position? Etc.
The only thing this question shows is boring personnel acquisition. That promises me nothing but a boring job with boring colleagues. No thanks.
Hello Garbagesister,
Of course it is. Sure everyone knows (except the school leavers). But does it make sense?
I was less concerned with the added value for school leavers than with generally encouraging reflection and discussion as to whether the statements made in the article are useful - or not. That seems to have worked, as you can see.
A valid survey was not intended either - more of an exchange of views.
Therefore: Thank you for your opinion!

Whether this discussion brings added value to school leavers, I think is questionable. Especially because everyone knows that individual opinions do not produce valid statements. And also that each personel knows in which of his questions is lied by the applicant. Since I find the claim to charming packaging quite charming.
But hey, as a blogger you apparently have to write your legitimacy with everything that wasn't at 3 on the tree ...
